George Carman Tribute

A Biker Named George Carman George Carman was a real biker, with a heart and desire to ride. George rode all year long and would use any excuse to ride. He started out as many of us have, riding Yamahas and Hondas and finally got an opportunity to buy a Harley. His first was a used 69 FLH. His last was a 98 Roadking with a total of 87474.7 miles which he put on since new. Many people have ridden with George and all will tell you that he was a safe rider who was very impressive with his skill and knowledge of the road. He traveled many trips to Sturgis and out west. A roller coaster would give him and his friend Charlie a reason to ride Thousands of miles. One day at work, he decided he wanted to tour the USA. He said to his friends you want to do what most bikers dream of doing, be at the Perkins Pancake Rt. 1 and 41 on the Sat. that we decided to leave in September 1999. We are pulling out at 8:30am. Six showed up 4 Harleys and to 2 Goldwings. Over 8000 miles and 21 days later we had the experience of a life time. Other trips to New Orleans, New England and Florida also provided an opportunity to experience the freedom of the road. George always took time to talk motorcycle talk, but when his butt was on that seat, he rode and didn’t want to stop for anything including gas. His life was cut short at 54yrs on I-495 in Delaware when his Pick-up was rear ended on Nov 10, 2003. He will be sadly missed by his wife Deb and all others that knew him. He was a catalyst who knew what biking was all about. Enjoying the feeling of freedom, that for some of us only comes when we are riding, And the camaraderie with others when we are stopped.------Butch

On The Road

Butch "On the Road Home"   Picture taken by George Carman Thanks Butch for supplying this information and for being a true friend to George both while he was alive and now. Just one of the many things he has done is, Butch organized a run to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame and helped get the money and everything necessary to have George  memorialized in thier museum.  You won't find a better man or a better friend than Butch.
